Diesel powered generators are mostly emergency power generation equipment, sometimes used indoors, sometimes used outdoors. If used indoors, because there is a cover, the generator set won’t expose to the weather. But if used outdoors, it is necessary to pay attention to some matters to ensure that the unit is stable, and also protects the unit and extends the service life of the unit.
Some of the considerations are as follows:
1. If the generator set is placed outdoors, even if there is a soundproof canopy, since it expose to the weather, there will be damages the unit, and the service life of the unit will be shorten. The simplest and straightforward method is to configure a rain cover.
2. Place the unit in a ventilated & dry position.
3. There must be no flammable and explosive items around the dg set.
4. If the generator set is near the building, there must be a certain distance to the building.
5. The fuel of the generator set needs to be placed separately in a room, and the facilities inside the room need to meet the local fire prevention regulations.
6. Fuel and oil will be purchased according to the recommendations of the generator manufacturer, if the temperature is too low in winter, the antifreeze can be added appropriately.
